The Beginning
The War Begins
It all began with agency.
A war in heaven was fought, and continues to this day, over our agency – the ability to choose for ourselves what we will or will not do. Many would say otherwise, but there are only two sides to choose: God, our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, or Lucifer, also known as Satan or the Devil. Sadly, one-third of the host of heaven followed Satan at the end of that original battle. They were cast out of heaven and down to earth, where they are allowed to tempt those who chose God’s plan and accepted Jehovah as our Savior.
As the Lord stated in 2 Nephi 2:27, “Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh . . . And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.”
In the Iron Rod experience, the participants’ ability to choose right over wrong is tested. And, hopefully, they will have wonderful experiences that will strengthen their understanding of agency, the power of prayer and the guidance of the Holy Ghost, and God’s loving Plan of Salvation.
