Emergency Evacuation List

The Most Important Items to Take With You

An emergency has occurred and you have 30 minutes to get everything you need to evacuate your house. What do you do? It is amazing what people might grab and pile into their car when they evacuate their homes: Grandma’s old teapot, a computer game, or some other item that has no real value. Here is a list of suggested items to prepare for any emergency evacuation:

  • ID, money/cash, credit cards (but be prepared for power outages when cards can’t be used - we suggest between $40-200 cash, with more in bug-out bags)
  • Cell phones/Chargers (a portable solar battery might be a good investment here)
  • Laptops/Thumb drives/Chargers
  • Important Personal & Family Information Files and Hard copies/Original documents
  • Emergency manual/information
  • 72 hr. Emergency bags – 1-2 large duffle
  • Personal Bug-out bags
  • Water jugs (15 gallons each person)
  • First Aid kits (Intermediate at least)
  • Books, family bibles, crayons and coloring books, favorite toys for children
  • Animals and food
  • Pictures and data disks or thumb drives
  • Blankets, pillows and jackets

  • Camping equipment:
  • tent or trailer
  • sleeping bags
  • water purifier
  • cooking kit
  • water (potable for cooking, etc.)
  • canned and dehydrated foods
  • sanitation/porta-potty
  • camping stove & solar oven (if you have one)
